Hello, I'm about to ruffle some of these
feathers today because I hear from you far
2
:too often that you just want to help
people and you don't really have a profit
3
:goal or wanna make money or something in
that area.
4
:Okay, grab a cup of coffee and let's dive
in to me telling you why making a big
5
:amount of money.
6
:doesn't have to be a massive disconnect
with the idea of doing good in the world.
7
:I'm your host, Sam Varner of the She Needs
Good podcast, and I am so, so grateful
8
:that you're joining me today for this
conversation around why you need to make
9
:buckets of money.
10
:Okay, so we're gonna dive into a topic
that's been buzzing, why so many people
11
:are shying away from openly admitting that
they wanna earn big bucks.
12
:massive money.
13
:We're going to break down today that money
taboo, unveiling some of the reasons
14
:behind it and exploring the incredible
impact that wealth can have on creating
15
:positive change out in the world.
16
:Okay, buckle up, so this is going to be a
game changer.
17
:I want you to lean in to the idea that you
can make massive amounts of money and make
18
:massive amounts of change out in the
world.
19
:And we're going to embrace this today.
20
:So today's a little mindset.
21
:Let's talk about your money mindset.
22
:All right, first things first.
23
:Judgment.
24
:We are all a little bit worried about
judgment.
25
:It's like a lurking shadow.
26
:It's keeping us from proudly yelling out
our exact money goals.
27
:When I ask in a room full of women
entrepreneurs, what's your goal?
28
:Very rare will I get an answer.
29
:So I've changed that line to be, hey, do
you have a goal?
30
:and everybody can raise their hand.
31
:But when I ask, what's your goal?
32
:We don't get a lot of response.
33
:Society creates this, right?
34
:Sometimes we get that side eye for those
shouting out about wealth, associating it
35
:with that greed or selfish feeling.
36
:So what do we do?
37
:We play it safe, we talk about making a
positive impact, and we really don't talk
38
:about the money part of it.
39
:But let's be real, your ambitions are
yours to own.
40
:It is time to really like lean into this
and embrace your wealth journey.
41
:After all, you are absolutely on a mission
to make an impact and live your best
42
:version of a profitable entrepreneur life
that creates a profitable, fantastic life
43
:for you and your family and your loved
ones.
44
:Okay, sometimes this can be a cultural
issue, right?
45
:Sometimes different cultures have
different rules or different...
46
:protocols around discussing personal
finances.
47
:In some cultures, it's just a no-go.
48
:We don't talk about money, we don't talk
about wealth, we don't talk about those
49
:things.
50
:It can be seen as impolite or
inappropriate.
51
:But that pushes a lot of us to be really
hesitant and concerned, and honestly,
52
:sometimes not being able to talk about
money openly also creates a lack of
53
:knowledge.
54
:Because we're not putting our hand up when
we need help, we're not putting our hand
55
:up when we're saying we want more, we're
not putting our hand up to discuss it at
56
:all, it can be really challenging.
57
:It's time to rewrite that script though.
58
:I want you to embrace the idea that
talking about money is critical.
59
:Talking about money as a business owner is
critical.
60
:Understanding all of that, all of what
money can do for you as a tool is super
61
:critical.
62
:And honestly, so many of us here are
parents.
63
:I want you to remember these kiddos that
we're raising need to understand and be
64
:able to talk about money as a tool as
well.
65
:So it's time that we dance to our own
financial beat.
66
:Let's talk about money conversations.
67
:Let's celebrate being wealthy.
68
:And that wealthy can look different for
everybody, but honestly, let's talk about
69
:it being a possibility.
70
:Okay, so now I want to think about
yearning for more money.
71
:We all want work that matters, right?
72
:Expressing a desire to help others is like
the jackpot of meaning and purpose.
73
:We all want to live in a place that we're
doing things for a purpose.
74
:But here's the thing, money has to be part
of that discussion.
75
:It's not just because you want a bucket
full of money, right?
76
:Or a briefcase full of money.
77
:but it's about creating a life of purpose
and impact.
78
:Meaningful work and financial success are
actually hand-in-hand partners as opposed
79
:to absolute polar opposites.
80
:You can work better, be more effective, be
more impactful in the world if you have
81
:financial stability for yourself and then
have started to establish wealth.
82
:Because then,
83
:you can start to do things that are deeply
meaningful to yourself while not going
84
:without.
85
:Okay, so we seem to talk a lot about this
idea that you can not want wealth and be a
86
:good person all at the same time.
87
:But hold up, I want you to think
successful entrepreneurs and big-hearted
88
:philanthropists prove that wrong every
day.
89
:You don't get the title philanthropist if
you don't
90
:organizations and those missions that you
find absolutely important.
91
:Money is just a tool for change, right?
92
:Financial success can be a powerhouse for
positive change, but it's not just about
93
:accumulating wealth like, you know,
whoever that was.
94
:Donald Duck?
95
:No, not Donald Duck.
96
:Scrooge?
97
:You know who I'm talking about.
98
:The Duck, the Uncle?
99
:Scrooge, I think.
100
:It's about leveraging that wealth to
create ripples of impact.
101
:So if you want to make a difference in the
world and you're gonna use your business
102
:as a way to create opportunity for that,
it's gonna mean you're gonna need to lean
103
:in to being more profitable so that you
have the ability to make more impact.
104
:Now, I hope you're starting to come
around.
105
:Are you starting to be like, maybe I can
see the value?
106
:I wanna talk about our ability or feelings
of necessity to stay humble.
107
:This is another reason that people fall
into this trap.
108
:Humility.
109
:But you know what?
110
:Expressing a money goal comes off as
flashy or makes you feel like you are.
111
:trying to be bigger than your boots,
right?
112
:But really, people end up in an attempt to
be humble, they downplay their ambitions,
113
:and they focus on like a humble brag of
making a difference.
114
:But you need to know this, you don't have
to dim your light to stay humble.
115
:You don't have to earn small amounts to
stay humble.
116
:You are capable of both being humble,
being helpful,
117
:offering value to the world, and shouting
your financial dreams from the rooftops.
118
:Your ambitions are just a testament to
your driving force, your dedication, and
119
:your goals of a profitable life.
120
:This is what I talk about all the time.
121
:So if this conversation right now up until
here is making you feel a little squirmy,
122
:a little uncomfortable, this might be a
place of exploration for you.
123
:Money mindset.
124
:and how you think about money, how you
think about people with money or without
125
:money, what moral judgments are getting
passed in any of those circumstances.
126
:These are all things that have been
created in our heads by society, by our
127
:learning, by our environment, many, many
areas.
128
:And I want you to start to ask questions.
129
:Start to poke holes in the assumptions and
the backend kind of like formatting you
130
:have
131
:about what it means to be wealthy.
132
:What type of a person is wealthy?
133
:What it means for something to be
expensive or cheap?
134
:What it means to be a person without
means?
135
:What does it say about you?
136
:Yep, all those things, they're gonna cause
thoughts in your head.
137
:And that is holding you back.
138
:Those thoughts are creating your
hesitation in stepping forward and setting
139
:big goals and going after those big goals.
140
:So let's talk a little bit about some of
the interesting statistics.
141
:Okay, so the Charities Aid Foundation,
which is a global giving unit, hit a
142
:whopping $2.6 trillion in 2021.
143
:Financially successful individuals are
major players in supporting causes
144
:worldwide.
145
:No matter what you find important in the
world, you need to be able to have cash to
146
:be able to get involved.
147
:It talks, it speaks volumes for positive
change in the world, and it allows you to
148
:make meaningful, meaningful contributions
out there in the space.
149
:Financial resources don't just look great.
150
:They're not just shiny gold bars sitting
in some bank account somewhere.
151
:They drive economic development, empower
communities and uplift societies.
152
:It is really what helps create dreams into
reality for so many people in these areas
153
:that you wanna be part of.
154
:Let's really lean in today into
considering and asking ourselves, what is
155
:my money mindset?
156
:What am I thinking about money?
157
:What am I thinking about money in relation
to how big of a dream I'm willing to
158
:pursue and how it might look to others?
159
:If there's any spot in there that makes
you trip up a little bit and worry about
160
:what the perception might be if you said
to somebody, hey, I'm going to make a
161
:million dollars and I am going to do it
through my business and I am incredibly
162
:pumped about what that will create in my
life.
163
:If that feels hard for you or gross.
164
:or just a little not great.
165
:I want you to lean in.
166
:I want you to ask yourself why.
167
:And I want you to think about if you have
extra money, where would you put it?
168
:Who would you help?
169
:Where would you wanna cause or create
impact?
170
:Money in and of itself is just a tool.
171
:It allows you to have the freedom and the
flexibility to make different decisions,
172
:to participate in more things, to give
back where you are most called to do so.
173
:It's just a tool.
174
:And the sooner we can look at that, that
it's just a tool, the sooner we can ditch
175
:this idea that by making a whole lot of
money, we're somehow
176
:doing something wrong.
177
:Okay?
178
:So I hope today you've had a couple of
little niggles on why I think profit
179
:coaching is critical, why I think big
goals are critical, why I think exploring
180
:your money mindset will change the
trajectory of your life, of your business,
181
:and of the lives of everybody that is
important to you.
182
:And...
183
:every group that you want to help.
184
:This is worth investigating.
185
:Don't let yourself be held back with
somebody else's money mindset that you may
186
:or may not have just adapted to you.
187
:Your dreams, your profits, they're worth
shouting about.
188
:I'm Sam Varner, your Profit Coach, signing
off for this week of She Needs Grit.
189
:So I want you to keep going out there.
190
:Make more money.
191
:Make big.
192
:audacious financial goals, and then do all
the good in the world that you want to do.
193
:Talk to you next week.
