Episode 12

CRUSH 2022 Series (pt 3)

Published on: 4th January, 2022

In the corporate world, we know we’ll get X amount of dollars for X number of hours, but entrepreneurship carries a very different story. In this episode, the third of this four-part goal-setting exercise to CRUSH 2022, we’re evaluating the relationship between time and money.

In the first episode of this short series, I asked you to audit your time, both business and personal, so that you could identify how much you’re actually working versus enjoying life. I’m pretty sure you didn’t decide to become an entrepreneur so you could work 80 hours a week and still be broke.

In the second episode of this short series, I asked you to audit your biz finances and I walked you through a very simple exercise that helped you identify your revenue and expenses by client/vendor by month.

Now it’s time to examine the relationship between those two sets of data. In entrepreneurship, you can create any amount of money in any window of time - it all boils down to focused activity, support systems, and duplicating what works while ditching what doesn’t.

When faced with a question about why goals aren’t being met, most entrepreneurs skirt around the “there’s not enough time” excuse. The truth is, you have more time than you think.

When you look at the amount of time it takes and the focused activity it takes to get new clients, you can double down on that. Hone in on the methods that are bringing clients in the door easily and ditch the methods that don’t work.

Same story with revenue. Identify how much focused production time it takes to make X amount of revenue and then find ways to do more of that and less scrolling on social media :)

Set client and revenue goals for yourself and work backwards from there to better understand how you can attain them. You won’t be scrambling at the end of the year once you’ve established this habit. It will take time right now, but I assure you it will pay off and your business will flourish.

In this episode, listen for:

  • Your business can achieve any results you desire
  • How to plan your business activities for efficiency
  • What it takes to make the best decisions for your business and act like a CEO

Must-listen Moments:

[4:25] Make the best of the time you do have instead of focusing on not having enough.

[7:32] Outsourcing can improve the efficiency of your business. Whenever possible, I outsource so that I can focus on other tasks that I am good at.

[12:02] Begin with the end in mind, and use the data to work backward, revealing the milestones you need to hit to achieve your goals.
