Episode 11

CRUSH 2022 Series (pt 2)

Published on: 28th December, 2021

In this second episode of this four-part series, I’m sharing a very simple money tracking activity that can help you get past your fears and start making business decisions like the badass CEO you are.

Getting a handle on your prior year’s business finances is a key component to knowing what worked, what didn’t, and setting gritty goals for CRUSHing 2022.

In the first episode of this series (Episode 10, CRUSH 2022 pt 1), I asked you to do a time audit so that you have the data to evaluate how much of your time generated money.

Now that you’ve learned how to audit your time, you’ll learn how to audit your business revenue and expenses, which are just fancy words for money in and money out.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

How much money have you earned? (business revenue i.e., money in)

How much have you spent? (business expenses i.e., money out)

Is it possible to improve either of those categories? (decrease expenses and increase revenue)

In the long run, reviewing your biz finances will benefit you greatly since you need to know what's going on so that you don't waste time and energy on clients or events not worth the effort. When you’re done with this simple money exercise, you’ll have the information you need to discover your best, most profitable clients, and set boundaries around expenses and less profitable clients.

In this episode, listen for:

  • How you can organize your money audit in an easy way with the simplest spreadsheet ever!
  • Understanding where your money is coming from
  • Exploring where to draw the line on spending and receiving money

Must-listen Moments:

[2:58] How much money have you spent over the past year on your business?

[5:13] Assessing both - Expenses and Revenue

[5:48] Which clients are most profitable and which are superstar referral partners?
